The State's Greatest Department Store: height of building 90 feet, extreme length, 450 feet, Broad St. front, 250 feet, New Street 275 feet, Halsey Street 200 feet, floor space, nearly 13 acres, main or ground floor space, 87,000 square feet, basement space, 100,000 square feet, 700 feet show widow space, lighted with 5,300 arc and incandescent lights, employing 2,000 people. From "New Jersey; Life, Industries and Resources of a Great State:1926" "Hahne's" as it is popularly known, is a third department store in Newark and one of the largest in the state. With a history of more than 70 years of business it has progressed as the city has developed. Some of its features, aside from a general merchandising business, are a model eight room suite, a budget bureau and shopping service.
