Wilderotter & Sons Dry Goods was originally at 57 Somerset Street. Later it moved to Caldwell and to Springfield and carried mostly furniture till the day Walter Wilderotter died. He had grown up on Hunterdon Street, and married Lottie Smith. His two daughters ran their own furniture stores with his help and their husbands at the helm. Walter's father started out in Old Newark as a peddler from Alsace Lorraine in Germany and France.
