William Bauer operated a large coal business, the Wiiliam Bauer Company, at 153 Badger Ave.  The company was founded circa 1912 on Bergen St and then moved to Badger Ave.  Mr. Bauer died in 1921 but the company continued and a new yard was constructed in 1928.  It was acquired by Fairlie - Wilson Coal in 1930.   It appears that the company continued to operate until the early 1950's.  Aerial photos indicate the yard was demolished around that time.  However, one of the original buildings still exists today at 153 Badger Ave and is now owned by a taxi company.
