From "Newark and Its Leading Businessmen" 1891 The Newark and Bloomfield Street Railway Company bought at a foreclosure sale on January 17, 1876, the property of the old Newark, Bloomfield and Montclair Horse Car Company. The road, as originally laid out, ran up Broad Street from Emmett Street to State Street, through State and High Streets and Summer Avenue to Bloomfield Avenue, thence through Mount Prospect Avenue and the Old Bloomfield Road to Bloomfield.
