Fairview259 viewsThomas (Donato) Parrillo's excursion boat, the Fairview. His brother, Capt. Benjamin S. Parrillo, was at the helm. In the 1950's my great Uncle Benny served as a captain on the Staten Island Ferry. He owned and operated the Fairview in partnership with his brothers Carmen, Anthony and Donato Thomas Parillo (my grandfather). The Fairview's home port was Port Newark, and it made daily excursions from Newark to Asbury Park, making stops along the way at various towns along the coast, including Elizabeth, Keansburg and many others. It also made excursions northward to West Point. It was very popular, and many people used the boat to travel from town to town along its route, for example, boarding at Elizabeth and getting off at Newark.
